GOLF, Ill. – July 20, 2017 … With the 2017 BMW Championship less than two months away, the Western Golf Association has issued a final call for volunteer registration. Golf fans and sports enthusiasts interested in volunteering must sign up by Aug. 4 to secure their spot in the event, set for Sept. 12-17 at Conway Farms Golf Club in Lake Forest.

All new volunteers who register on or before Aug. 4 will be entered into a drawing to win either a round of golf at Conway Farms Golf Club or two (2) tickets to a BMW Championship hospitality skybox on the 17th hole with reserved seating and unlimited food, beer, wine and soft drinks.

While more than 1,200 volunteers have already signed up for the BMW Championship, select opportunities remain available to assist in staging the penultimate event of the PGA TOUR FedExCup Playoffs when it returns to Chicago’s North Shore this fall. Volunteers perform key tasks inside and outside the ropes during tournament week, including welcoming thousands of patrons to the event each day, assisting corporate hospitality guests and helping out in the event’s merchandise tent.

“We’ve been very pleased with the level of participation from volunteers coming from both near and far to ensure the success of the BMW Championship,” said Vince Pellegrino, WGA Senior Vice President of Tournaments. “It takes a lot of helping hands to put on an event of this scale, and we encourage local residents to volunteer for a unique opportunity to see the tournament from a different perspective while helping us raise funds for our sole charitable beneficiary, the Evans Scholars program.”

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and commit to work at least three shifts during tournament week. Shifts range from 4-6 hours in length, depending on assignment.

Volunteers are asked to purchase a volunteer package for $98. Valued at $293, the package includes:

•    One Peter Millar golf shirt
•    One Peter Millar outerwear piece
•    One BMW Championship hat or visor
•    BMW Championship commemorative pin
•    Two One Day Tournament Round Grounds Tickets
•    One Volunteer Credential, valid for entry all week
•    One invitation to the Volunteer Appreciation Party
•    Food and beverage vouchers

The BMW Championship is the penultimate event in the PGA TOUR’s FedExCup Playoffs, with the top 70 PGA TOUR players competing for an $8.5 million purse, including $1.575 million for the winner. Former champions include Dustin Johnson, Jason Day, Rory McIlroy, Zach Johnson, Justin Rose and Tiger Woods.

All proceeds from the BMW Championship benefit the Evans Scholars Foundation, which awards full tuition and housing college scholarships to deserving caddies from modest means. Since 2007, the event has contributed more than $24.4 million to the Evans Scholars Foundation.
