Before selecting your three committee preferences, please read the descriptions of each committee below. Please note when each committee will be active, as some will require you to work before and after championship week. Volunteers will be asked to work at least three shifts. The minimum age for volunteers is 18 years old, unless otherwise specified. It is important to be aware that most assignments for the BMW Championship will require walking or standing for long periods of time.
Access Control
Committee is active Tuesday-Sunday. Responsible for controlling access into restricted areas around the course and the clubhouse. These volunteers will work in conjunction with volunteers in Corporate Hospitality and Gallery Management, Private Security, and Police.
Admissions
Committee is active Tuesday-Sunday. Responsible for selling/issuing daily tickets and scanning tickets/credentials at admissions gate(s). Volunteers will greet spectators and answer general questions. Volunteers will also be stationed in the admissions office(s) to assist our staff with will-call pickups and on-site sales if necessary.
Caddie Operations
Committee is active Monday-Sunday. Volunteers will help to make this a memorable experience for the caddies. Their duties will include cleaning, sorting, and distributing the caddie bibs and towels. Volunteers will be responsible for collecting bibs, cleaning, and preparing bibs for the following day. This assignment is mostly indoors but has early morning shifts for distribution and late evening for bib collection.
Corporate Hospitality
Committee is active Tuesday-Sunday. Volunteers will welcome corporate guests, scan credentials, wristband them, and provide directions to hospitality venues/upgraded ticket areas. This assignment is outdoors. Limited volunteers are needed on Tuesday/Wednesday.
Fan Ambassadors
Committee is active Tuesday-Sunday. Volunteers will be placed in high-traffic areas around the course to support and answer spectator questions. Volunteers will be trained in frequently asked questions, be supplied with QR codes, daily pairings, course maps and an “Ask Me” caddie bib. Volunteers should have general knowledge of the course layout.
Gallery Management
Committee is active Tuesday-Sunday. Responsible for crowd control and helping players find lost golf balls. They get the unique opportunity to work inside the ropes and see the action up close. Volunteers should have a basic knowledge of the rules and regulations of a golf course. Marshals will be asked to work “full-day” shifts, which are approximately 6 hours.
Honorary Observers
Committee is active Thursday-Sunday. Volunteers will check in sponsors and guests, distribute credentials and will provide a short training. Participants will then be directed to the first tee box.
Merchandise
Committee is active Tuesday-Sunday. Volunteers will assist in the merchandise tent(s) providing customer service and assisting with the point of sales operations and various vendors with their products. Volunteers may be asked to work a shift pre- or post-championship. Kids 16 and older are eligible for this committee.
Player and Caddie Hospitality
Committee is active Monday-Sunday. Player and Caddie Hospitality acts as a concierge service, providing players and their caddies with information on restaurants and local area attractions and ensures they have a memorable experience during the week. Volunteers may be asked to work more than three shifts as this committee is a very small group.
Player/VIP Transportation
Committee is active the Saturday prior to the Monday after championship week. Volunteers will be assisting with the staging, distribution, and return of the players' courtesy cars. They may also be asked to shuttle players and family. Volunteers should be flexible with hours, as the shifts are based on the players' needs. This committee is stationed at various locations outside of the club. This may involve early mornings, late nights, and weekends. Volunteers must be over 25 years of age and have a valid driver's license. Volunteers interested in this committee will need a background check.
Practice Range
Committee is active Monday-Sunday. Responsible for the management of the driving range and the ball tent. Main duties will include the sorting and distributing of balls by brand and helping WGA Directors with the placing of player name plates. Early mornings are required.
Product Delivery
Committee is active Monday-Sunday. Volunteers will be responsible for stocking beverages and ice at various locations throughout the course. Volunteers must be physically able to lift and carry heavy bags of ice and cases of product.
ShotLink Mobile Spotters
Volunteers assist by helping track ball flight off the tee and locating and flagging shots that miss the fairway or green. Their efforts directly support the delivery of real-time distance data and statistics to scoreboards, television broadcasts, internet platforms, gaming systems, and mobile applications. Volunteers in this role should have a basic understanding of golf. All mobile spotters must be physically capable of walking their assigned hole for the duration of their shift, often in varied weather conditions. A key responsibility is quickly locating shots as this is vital for ensuring accurate shot location data. Volunteers must complete an online training course, attend a virtual training session, complete the ShotLink disclosure form, and be 18 years of age.
Standard Bearers
Committee is active Wednesday-Sunday. Volunteers are responsible for walking all 18 holes while carrying and updating a five-pound standard. Volunteers should understand golf etiquette and have knowledge of golf scoring. Volunteers must be available on Pro-Am Wednesday in addition to two tournament days. Weekend-only assignments are not allowed. Kids 16 and older are eligible for this committee.
Volunteer Services
Committee is active Monday-Sunday of tournament week. Volunteers will oversee the operation of volunteer headquarters and uniform distribution. Duties will include answering volunteer questions, conducting uniform exchanges, selling additional uniforms, assisting meal vendors and keeping the venue clean. Early mornings will be required for volunteer headquarters. Volunteers are also responsible for assisting with uniform distribution prior to tournament week.
Walking Scorers
Committee is active Wednesday-Sunday. The Walking Scorer role is a prestigious and critical volunteer position that requires mental and physical stamina, attention to detail and a thorough understanding of the game of golf. The Walking Scorer accompanies a group of two players to keep their score, track specific statistics, and capture real-time data that informs all aspects of the ShotLink system. Important to note:
- Volunteers should have the physical ability to easily keep pace with their group across all 18 holes without a break and in varying weather conditions.
- Volunteers should be comfortable using a handheld digital device to record each shot, as well as the voice radio with a headset that allows for constant communication with the staff.
- Volunteers are required to complete a 1-hour online training course, a 1-hour in-person training during tournament week and should be available for the Wednesday Pro-Am and at least two additional tournament days (must work Thursday/Friday before being allowed to have a weekend shift).
- All volunteers must interview with the Committee Chair and receive approval before registering for this committee.
