Volunteer registration open for 2027 BMW Championship in New Jersey
JERSEY CITY, N.J. — Volunteer registration for the 2027 BMW Championship opened today, offering golf fans in New York and New Jersey an opportunity to be part of the championship’s highly anticipated August debut at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, New Jersey.
More than 2,000 volunteers will play critical roles when the BMW Championship visits the area for the first time on Aug. 17-22, 2027. The championship’s host organization, the Western Golf Association (WGA), expects the limited number of remaining volunteer positions to be filled quickly. Fans can register at bmwchampionship.com/volunteers.
Championship volunteers will perform key tasks inside and outside the ropes while supporting the championship’s sole beneficiary, the Evans Scholars Foundation. Since 2007, the BMW Championship has raised more than $63 million for the Foundation, helping award full tuition and housing college scholarships to thousands of youth caddies. In New Jersey alone, there are 42 Evans Scholars attending Rutgers University, where the new Liberty National NJSGA Evans Scholars Scholarship House will be dedicated in August.
Volunteer responsibilities will include welcoming thousands of patrons each day, assisting corporate hospitality guests, interacting with players and caddies, distributing real-time scoring and statistical data and operating the merchandise tent. A full list of volunteer positions can be found at bmwchampionship.com.
“Our volunteers will be at the heart of making the BMW Championship’s first visit to New Jersey one of the best weeks of the PGA Tour season,” said Vince Pellegrino, WGA senior vice president of tournaments. “This is an incredible opportunity for golf fans across the region to go inside the ropes to see a world-class championship – and one of the most spectacular venues in golf – from a whole new perspective.”
Volunteers will be asked to purchase an official uniform package for $195. Valued at $750, the package includes the following premium items:
- Two Peter Millar golf shirts
- One Peter Millar outerwear piece
- A hat or visor
- One clear championship bag
- Volunteer credential, valid for entry all week
- Parking in the V-Lot during scheduled shifts
- Exclusive ticket discount
- Food and beverages available during scheduled shifts
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, except for standard bearers and those working in the merchandise tent, who must be at least 16 years old. Volunteers are asked to commit to working at least three shifts during tournament week. Shifts range from four to six hours, depending on assignment.
Set along the Hudson River with sweeping views of the New York City skyline and Statue of Liberty, Liberty National Golf Club will provide an unforgettable setting as the top 50 players in the FedExCup standings compete for the J.K. Wadley Trophy and a spot in the season-ending Tour Championship. Past champions include Wyndham Clark, Scottie Scheffler, Keegan Bradley, Viktor Hovland, Justin Thomas, Jason Day, Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose and Tiger Woods.
The championship will also shine a spotlight on the growing Evans Scholars Program at Rutgers. With the help of a generous lead gift from the Fireman family, who founded Liberty National Golf Club, renovations are underway at Jameson Hall D, which will become a permanent Scholarship House for the Rutgers Evans Scholars chapter.
The Foundation plans to dedicate the renovated scholarship house during championship week, celebrating the connection between the BMW Championship’s debut at Liberty National and the Evans Scholars Foundation’s expanding impact in New Jersey.
