ST. LOUIS — Wyndham Clark saved his best for last Sunday at Bellerive Country Club.

After seeing his five-shot overnight lead disappear during a tense final round, Clark birdied each of his final three holes to pull away and capture the 2026 BMW Championship by three shots, holding off Rory McIlroy and Patrick Cantlay.

“I wasn't really nervous. I was kind of like ... out of it,” Clark said. “I was making dumb bogeys. I didn't make anything on the greens. When I made the putt on the par 3, it got me back. As much as I would have loved to run away with it, it was fun to get the juices going.”

Clark closed with an even-par 70 to finish at 17-under 263, earning his third PGA TOUR victory of the season and adding a FedExCup Playoffs title to a year that already included his second U.S. Open championship.

“I’m really proud of myself that I didn’t let it get away,” Clark said.

McIlroy erased Clark’s five-shot advantage and briefly pulled even on the back nine, but Clark regained control with a 15-foot birdie on the par-3 16th. He followed with another birdie at the par-5 17th as McIlroy made bogey, then punctuated the victory with a final birdie on No. 18.

Patrick Cantlay made his own late charge, birdieing the final three holes for a 2-under 68 to finish alone in second at 14 under. McIlroy finished third at 13 under after a final-round 69.

Gary Woodland, who began the day in the final pairing with Clark, shot 69 to tie for fourth and secure his first trip to the TOUR Championship since 2019.

The BMW Championship also determined the final 30 players who will advance to next week’s TOUR Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta. Clark’s victory moved him into an automatic qualifying position for the U.S. Presidents Cup Team.

The championship marked the PGA TOUR’s first return to Bellerive since the 2018 PGA Championship and the first BMW Championship at the club since 2008.

All proceeds from the BMW Championship benefit the Evans Scholars Foundation, which provides full tuition and housing scholarships to deserving youth caddies.
